Introduction
Department of Geography, GDC Hyderpora was established in 2020, when Geography was introduced in the subject combination of the college for the first time. The department of Geography is committed to impart high quality education and research in an agreeable ambience to shape the future of the students on its rich repositories of fame and prestige.
Geography occupies a logically defensible position among the sciences as one of the chorological studies. Geography as a discipline is concerned with the systematic description and interpretation of spatial patterns and regional associations of all those phenomena which influence human life on earth’s surface. Geography helps man to realize his true position on the world stage and his duties, his own self, his nation and the world at large.

Objectives of Teaching Geography
- To acquaint the students with the living conditions of men in different parts of the globe.
- To enable the students to acquire a knowledge of natural resources.
- To develop in students an understanding of how environment and climatic factors have influenced our life.
- To enable the students to appreciate the natural beauty and other physical forces.
- To develop the skills of reading maps and globes, to develop drawing and measuring skills, and to develop the skill of using and manipulating geographical instruments.

The subject is taught as multidisciplinary course under NEP 2020 in the college. The aim of the department is to introduce the subject as an Honours subject in the college in near future. The College building is still under construction, thus we are hoping to provide all basic facilities to the students in present as well as in future.
