Advisor to Governor, K Skandan on March 04^th, 2019 laid the foundation stone of  Government Degree College (GDC)  Hyderpora, Srinagar.  The Colllege started its humble beginning from , a makeshift arrangement at Primary School, Goripora. The college was renamed as Moti Lal Saqi  (Memorial) Government Degree College (GDC)  Hyderpora, Srinagar   after the eminent poet, writer and  folklorist Moti Lal Saqi on December 11, 2021.
